Evolutionary Road

One of the biggest complaints I get from clients...and friends...and family, and well, myself for that matter, is how long it sometimes takes for the things the we want to create in our lives to come to us. It's funny how one can fall into place so easily, and another feels like you're battling an elephant uphill. Though one thing I know is that when I've looked back at the struggle, oftentimes it had more to do with where my head was at than the circumstances floating around me. It all seems related to what I was willing to put up with, how brave I could push myself to be, or how I valued or devalued myself. Basically, how much was I actually getting in my own way? A lot, would be the correct answer.

This being said, sometimes we really need to just lose control and let things flow. That way, you can enjoy a few of the unexpected twists and turns along the way, gain some valuable wisdom, and let the elephant go off and do what elephants do best. You just never know where you might land!

From Over There: Evolutionary Road

"Know that we recognize the delay of manifestation due to the lower frequencies you experience. We ask that you not let this dissuade you from holding your vision. There are many reasons why you may not immediately receive that which you desire. One such reason is an individual's readiness for the event to occur. At times, what you want is not in line with the appropriate amount of knowledge you need to gain your achievement. Many times in retrospect an individual recognized that an acquiring of greater knowledge was needed in order for the desire to come to fruition, and to be prepared for the life changes that occur.

Hold on to your vision, but understand that it may come in unexpected ways, through unexpected means, and in a different time frame than anticipated.  There are many times that the lessons learned as you move toward your chosen goal are the greatest achievement. Hold fast to your vision, and appreciate the gifts of knowledge and personal evolution gained upon the way."

Messages From Over There...The Perfect Vehicle

As follow up to last week’s message, this week is a snippet from a message a couple of years back. In the previous newsletter we talked about judging others not so much by their appearance, but instead on the merits of their actions. This week is more about suspending our judgment of our own appearance.

When we cast judgment on ourselves based purely on our looks we completely miss the boat regarding our value. Now believe you me, I’m all for a person feeling good about the way they look - it can give a mighty big confidence boost - but when that is the main focus it will inevitably end at some point in feelings of insecurity. Why? Because looks change. No matter how blessed or endowed in the beauty department someone is, time will eventually alter it. It’s a fact of life.

The best we can do is honor the birthday suit we were given, appreciate it for the time we have it, and treat it with the respect it deserves!

From Over There: The Perfect Vehicle

“The physical nature of one's being is secondary. Cultures throughout the world have varying views of what is appropriate and valuable in the physical form. Rising above these perceptions and embracing your physical form as the vessel that houses your spirit will allow you to consider the value of your physical self, regardless of its current shape or inconsistency with societal norms. What could be more valuable than a vehicle that allows you to touch, hold and embrace? Regardless of your limitations, it is a means to allow your spirit to be present in the rich world of form.”

Messages From Over There...I'm Looking Through You

I have an interesting career life. On one hand, I'm all about spiritual energy and connecting myself and my clients to greater part of their "unseen self", but on the other I'm a consultant for the beauty industry, a business all about what is "seen" and how we look. I've been working in the world of beauty in one fraction or another for, dare I say it, over 30 years. And although I've enjoyed most of it, there's the part that caters to the physical insecurities of others that I've found frustrating.

I'm all for making ourselves feel better via adornment whether it be tattoos, makeup, or a new piece of clothing - a good exterior remodel now and then can certainly boost self-confidence. I think it makes sense to update things as we move through life and allow our outsides to reflect the different versions of ourselves we become along the way. No more 80s-big-hair-poodle-style of years past!  Where my frustration lies is in the way we so often permit society to decide what is considered beautiful or acceptable, and what isn't.

Let's face it (pun intended), not one of us goes without scrutinizing the appearance of those around us. We judge a person for looking too conservative, too liberal, too gay, too straight, too dark, or too light, the list goes on and on...but what about when we judge someone for being too attractive or unattractive? I've seen many instances where those who are unconventional in appearance (or unattractive by a narrow-minded society) go unnoticed, ignored when needing help, or treated as outcasts. On the flipside is the individual getting extra attention, or revered for their "good looks". Just turn on the TV and you'll find a multitude of "celebrities" getting by on nothing but the merits of their physical appearance. And I've also seen individuals who are considered very attractive judged harshly by those who are threatened by the mere presence of their looks.

In my observing the dynamics of human interaction (aka, people-watching), I've found it very interesting to see how we all relate to one another. It's wonderful to see how we can rise to the occasion and support and respect each other, but then there are the other, less inspirational exchanges. I see people reacting to how they're perceived by acting coy to get what they want, or using their looks to intimidate, or even worse, diminishing themselves so as to not to be too threatening to a particular group.

I do believe we as humans have it hardwired within us to judge on appearance for survival reasons, but if we step outside our fear of those that don't fit into our idea of normal (what does that mean anyway?!) we open up to seeing those around us more on the virtues of their spirit. This week's message speaks to this and is very short, but to the point. If we could all take a step back from time to time, we'd see more than just physical attributes. We'd see the kindness, compassion and life challenges, or the manipulation and true reason to avoid someone.

Here's looking at you...

Spreading the Net

I've been writing my weekly newsletter, Messages From Over There, for almost three years now. And during this time have been sending it out via email, have had a Facebook page for the past couple of years where I post it, and also have it on my website. My website doesn't exactly offer the best blogging platform, so now I enter the world of blogging through this site - although it appears that I first set up this blog in 2008. We all know what can happen to the best laid plans...

So here you go, my newsletter now a blog for all of you who prefer reading it this way. As always, thanks for listening and my next newsletter will follow shortly!
