Myself, Included

And so here we are on the eve of another historic event in US history, the election of our 45th President. This time around has been pretty volatile on both sides. There’s a lot at stake for each of us as we all hold on tight to those things we find important and necessary to lead happy, productive lives. In the spirit of inclusiveness I try very hard not to get “too political” when writing my newsletter, but sometimes it’s extremely difficult. Truthfully, what some choose to focus on and fight for baffles me, and I at times find it horrific. But we all have our reasons, and thank God/Goddess/Universe/Nothing we have the right to express our views.

What I hope is that each of you truly find it in your heart to vote for the candidate that you feel may unify us, treat us ALL as EQUAL citizens, and support our inalienable RIGHTS as human beings.  Whether you’re black, brown, or white, whether you’re gay, bi, straight, or transgender, whether you’re Pagan, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, Agnostic or Atheist, whether you’re rich, middle class, or poor, whether you live in the liberal San Francisco Bay Area, or the conservative Bible Belt, please vote with your heart, not your anger or fear. What the world needs now, is love sweet love, not finger pointing, name calling or reduction of ANYONE’S rights. Please people, please, can’t we all get along?

From Over There:
“Lack of inclusiveness is a sign of fear. This fear runs rampant within all global cultures as each hold onto perceived values and feelings of safety. This deception is brought on by the illusion of separateness. Feelings of separation are created as one holds fast to ideals, then forming the ideals into identity. Identification with these ideals forms what is thought to be the self, yet is not the self. It is a viewpoint or lens at which to look through life and nothing else.

If these ideals are challenged, then it is as if the very self is in peril, fighting for existence. When one is able to embrace values and ideals built upon a foundation of inclusiveness, then one is able to accept variants in the opinions of others without feeling threatened, and opens them more fully to broadening their own viewpoint. This broadening perspective reduces fear, and diminishes the illusion of separateness. This understanding of interconnection reduces violence, and leads to greater compassion throughout the human race.”
